When an outdoor table finds new life as a desk or a cherished chest of drawers converts to a bedside table, there’s a good chance that the owners of the furniture are moving from one life stage to the next. But whatever the reason, one thing’s certain: this fatigued earth of ours is breathing a little easier, for when we find another purpose for any object we deeply value, we save natural resources. From my own personal experience, I’ve also found the creative process of re-inventing furniture to be extremely gratifying. That farmhouse style dining room table of mine does more than simply migrate to my kitchen. It rewards me in its new setting with a fresh appreciation for its uniquely weathered character.

Buy it once, treasure it forever. There’s also another quite practical reward. In our current economy, we all have every right to expect that a considered purchase like furniture will reward us with years—even decades—of service. That’s why the furniture we feature is constructed from seasoned materials that have already withstood the test of time. Often it’s made from the heartiest reclaimed first-growth forest lumber that has long since disappeared. It's also why we reinvent these materials for a contemporary lifestyle — selling only versatile, eco-stylish furniture that transcends trend. We know that while lifestyles may change, enduring quality is a constant.

Values + value. To make long lasting design even more accessible to you, we’re offering special pricing on some of our most popular pieces as well as our exciting new introductions. From our stately Gustavian and Plank Beds, made from vintage Douglas fir to our new modular Media Center, constructed of sturdy recycled metal and reclaimed railroad ties, our distinctive furniture, handmade by talented artisans, holds up remarkably well and even improves with age. It begins a new life with a warm patina that adds to its character. Extraordinary functionality is on display, too, in our sustainable wood Twisty Stools, Convertible Cubes and Timber Blocks. I’ve used all of these as side tables in the living room and bedside, extra perches for unexpected guests or grouped in multiples as a coffee table. That versatility is true as well for our delightfully colorful Barcelona bench that combines playful stripes with intelligent storage and comfortable seating.

Outdoors Indoors. In the spirit of blurring the boundaries between outdoor and interior spaces, one of my favorite passions, I’ve discovered there are no limits to how you can repurpose furniture. Why not, for example, add cushions to our Adirondack Chairs and use them in a family room or guest bedroom? Or create an unexpected upbeat touch to a kitchen table with cheery Eucalyptus Garden Chairs.

Whether you’re furnishing a first home, updating a room, or looking for a multi-tasking solution to a storage need, I urge you to consider the possibility of choosing authentic lifelong décor. VivaTerra stands for inspired design. Enduring, always. Eco, of course.
