Sublimely soft, our sun-bleached organic cotton kalamkari bedding accents transform your bedroom with three easy pieces- a decorative pillow with down insert, an ikat pillow sham, and a complementary bed throw with repeating frond pattern. Using rare natural indigo and healthful ayurvedic dyes derived from plants and roots, the designer worked with one of the few craftsmen who has mastered this ancient art. He dips hand-carved teak blocks into the dyes, hand-presses each pattern, then fixes his vibrant colors in hot sunlight. The process requires 15 steps and 40 days-as it did 400 years ago, when kalamkari was first perfected. Beautifully broken in, with tonal nuances achieved only through hand-dyeing, our bedding provides fair-trade income to more than 50 families in the craftsman's Indian village.
