I saw this chalkboard in the catalog and thought it would be perfect for a small wall in my kitchen. After the seeing the first review, I was a little hesitant, but could not find anything I liked as well, so took a chance.

The first review was helpful. There are two pieces of wood on the back. One on the top and one on the bottom, but it does come ready to hang. I attached a wire for hanging pictures to the top piece of wood and hung it on the picture frame hooks. This worked perfect. It is stable and straight.

The tray on the front seemed level for me.

I would recommend.

The board looks as depicted, however, it is not put together so that the cleat drilled into the slate hangs level. it was not measured carefully. It is uncentered and unlevel - thus making it almost impossible to hang the chalkboard level without drilling another hole the SLATE (not preferable), or compensateing by drilling holes in the wall which aren't level. After dismantling the board and trying both of these, we finally just wedged something between the cleat and the board to achieve a level hang. This is poor quality control on a an item this expensive.

In addition, the wood that holds the chalk / eraser was attached/(drilled) unlevel as well.
