A symbol of peace and friendship worldwide, this live Olive tree will brighten up the room with its fresh greens and Mediterranean style. Every tree is grown right here in the USA and ships to you in a terracotta pot.

If you live in a mild climate, you can leave your olive tree outdoors year-round (typically below 32 degrees Fahrenheit will cause damage to your tree). Be sure to select a southern location sheltered from drying wind. When it is necessary to bring the tree inside, make sure it is in a location where it can still receive about eight hours of sunlight daily (or consider adding full-spectrum glow lights). Trees will take approximately 1-1.5 years to reach full maturity.

The following general guidelines will give you a point of reference for the care of your new olive tree, but remember that different temperatures and locations will greatly affect water requirements, etc.

Light: Full sun, a growing olive trees need as much sunlight as possible year-round. A sunny south-facing window is ideal.

Water: Allow the top inch of soil in the pot to dry out in between watering’s. Olive trees, since they are native to the Mediterranean, are particularly suited to drier air (like the kind found in most homes), so they don’t need to be misted. Don't allow the soil to get soggy which can quickly kill an olive tree. Reduce water in winter, when plant is resting.

Pruning: Prune back olive trees in spring when new growth begins. Clipping the longer branches encourages new growth. Fertilizer: Feed every 2 weeks in spring and summer with a balanced liquid fertilizer diluted by half. Or apply a slow-release fertilizer, such as 10-10-10, in early spring. Repot in spring. Move a young olive plant to a pot that's just 1 size larger every couple years or when it outgrows its pot. Always use a pot with a drainage hole to prevent soggy soil and root rot.
