The reputation of Bolga baskets precedes them, as their creators, weavers from the region of Bolgatanga in Ghana, Africa, are reputed across the globe for their talents and craftsmanship. Woven from durable elephant grass and outfitted with a leather-wrapped handle for comfort, Bolga baskets are perfect for carrying to your local market or filling up for a picnic. Woven in an assortment of colors and patterns, all decided by the artisans who weave them- every basket will be a beautiful surprise!
To reshape your basket, always use cold water to prevent the dye from running. Wet the item throughly, then press and smooth the item to your desired shape. Shake out any excess water and place the item in a warm place to dry. We recommend not placing wet baskets on a surface where dye transfer might occur. This process can be repeated as needed.
Handwoven baskets not only celebrate the traditional artistry of African basketweaving, but they also have an eco-friendly element. Made from natural grasses, the baskets celebrate the beauty of nature's bounty without negatively impacting its resources.
