Keep soil moist but not overly saturated. Avoid getting water into the neck of the bulb. Bright light or full sun in an average home temperature environment of 65°-75°F is best. As stems grow turn the pot slightly each day to keep the foliage and blooms upright.
Your amaryllis bulb may be saved for reblooming the following year. After flowering, continue growing the large strappy leaves, watering and fertilizing regularly with a liquid plant food. In late summer, completely withhold water and allow the leaves to die back. Store the bulb in a cool dark dry place for at least 8 weeks. The bulb may then be brought into the light and watered to begin the growing process again.
